Meet Leatta!

I'm Leatta! I've proudly served on the Tumwater City Council since 2018, first by appointment and then through elections in 2019 and 2023. Now, I'm thrilled to take the next step - I want to be your Mayor!

Tumwater has been my home since childhood, and I'm passionate about giving back to the community that's given me so much. Whether it's through council service, volunteering, or my career, I'm committed to making Tumwater an even better place for everyone.

When I’m not serving on the City Council, I’m proud to work for the State of Washington, where I recently began a new role as Lead SEEP Analyst at the Department of Commerce. In this position, I help state agencies reduce greenhouse gas emissions, eliminate toxic materials from operations, and make sustainable choices in areas like purchasing, energy, and transportation.

Previously, I served as an Environmental Technical Analyst in the Department of Enterprise Services’ Contracts and Procurement Division. There, I provided expert, science-based guidance on environmentally preferred purchasing (EPP) to ensure compliance with state environmental laws and executive orders. I also led Lean process improvement initiatives, supported system transitions, and served as the primary analyst for legislative research and reporting on environmental procurement.

With more than 20 years of experience at the intersection of science, sustainability, and public service, I’m committed to making government operations more environmentally responsible—because what we buy, how we build, and how we lead matters.

I'm also deeply involved in our community, volunteering with organizations like Family Education and Support Services, the Family Support Center, and ASHHO. Supporting local causes and helping neighbors thrive is at the heart of everything I do.

In my free time, I love to travel with my mom, exploring new cultures and gathering ideas to bring back to Tumwater. You'll also find me walking my rescue pug, Beatrice, and catching up with neighbors. Serving this city is my passion, and I'm ready to lead as your Mayor to help Tumwater shine even brighter!
