Hello,

I'm proud to serve you and our community in Tumwater.

DONATE

I have deep roots in this community that has been my home to my family for almost fifty years, and I am honored to serve on the Tumwater City Council.

As a prior member of the Tumwater Planning Commission, I have witnessed Tumwater grow. I have engaged with numerous organizations and activities that support the growth and development of our community. I remain dedicated to the success of the city of Tumwater and the greater South Sound community.

Skills and knowledge I bring to Council:

  • Passionate about Tumwater’s future and our larger community. Having served on the Tumwater Planning Commission for four years and Tumwater City Council for four years, I see great opportunities for preserving our history, protecting our environment, and attracting new development. I am committed to ensuring that all of our community members experience equity and equality in Tumwater’s success. I have been actively involved in the work during my first term on Council to keep our city moving forward.

  • Connecting people and resources. I have extensive leadership and volunteer experience with many organizations that advocate for and provide services to our community members such as YWCA of Olympia, Senior Services for South Sound, Homes First, Family Education and Support Services, Family Support Center of South Sound  and other local organizations. My service as a member of the Board of Directors with these organizations helps me identify and connect to resources when tackling various city issues and undertaking initiatives and finding solutions.

  • Scientific knowledge and background. Having majored in chemistry and worked in the environmental field for over 20 years, I have expertise in organic and inorganic chemistry. For 19 years I worked at the Department of Ecology specializing in the areas of pollution prevention and hazardous waste management, providing assistance to business, industry, government, the general public, and in house staff. My analytical problem solving skills have been key to reducing unintended environmental consequences while seeing businesses increase their bottom line. I currently work at Department of Enterprise Services incorporating environmentally preferred purchasing specifications in all statewide contracts for goods and services.

In my first term on Tumwater City Council I have worked on the following collaborative teams for you:

  • Public Health and Safety Committee (currently serve as Chair)

  • General Government Committee (currently serve)

  • Regional Fire Authority Planning Committee (currently serve as Chair)

  • TCOMM911 (currently serve as Vice-Chair)
